Blogging at 70!

Every old man needs a blog for his friends, children and grand children to read, so here it is.

I am developing a new Bible ... The Readable Bible. It is the Bible the way I believe it would be if Moses, Joshua, Matthew and the other authors of Scripture had been sitting at a PC when God spoke to them. Thus, it is the Bible in modern formats.

 My goal is to produce a Bible that:

1. Is as easy to read and as understandable as a paraphrase like (like The Message), but as accurate as a word-for-word translation (like the English Standard Version) or a thought-for-thought translation (like the New International Version).
2. As easy and convenient to read as a typical non-fiction trade paperback (such as those in the “Dummies” series).
3. Attracts non-Bible readers.

I have a small team working on The Readable Bible, and I'll use this blog to keep you up to date on our progress, share some of the principles of translation and presentation we are using, and share some of the interesting things I have been learning while engaged in this project. And I'll try to be a blessing to you.
